On the second of February, Mangra County's Vice Leader, Ndrukbum Jyal, from the White Conch Embroidery Company, was interviewed by a reporter from Xunhua. He said, "Embroidery in Mangra County has a history of developing for 1,500 years. Such a long history makes it a unique craft form on the Tibetan Plateau. The value of these crafts lies in the fact that they are solely hand-made, from carefully selected materials using precision techniques. Because of its value, it is immeasurably famous. Half a year is required to complete an outstanding product. If you go from house to house in a farming village, the women in almost every house will know how to embroider, so this area is known as 'The Home of Embroidery'. The company has been developing since it was established six years ago. Now, the scale and achievements of embroidery are the primary means for women in this area to earn an income. It is also important for maintaining culture."
When asked about future developments, he said, "Nowadays, an increase in Mangra County's embroidery products is supported by policy and with the help of funding. In order to solve the problems of lacking experts in doing research and development, and in order to create sustainable services for industry, we need to provide trainings, to foster people who can think about doing market research, planning, and publicity, and produce a variety of products in accordance with the needs of the market, and thus make Mangra County's embroidery products a local cultural product. Its social and commercial role need to be raised, and the embroidery industry needs to be stimulated to become industrial, scalable, and market-based."
