24 March 2015 To preserve and restore Labrang Monastery's murals, which have a history of over 300 years, restoration will begin in earnest in April. According to the plan, two years will be needed to complete the work. The plan to preserve Labrang Monastery's murals was approved in June of 2014 by the national heritage bureau. 24 March 2015 Recently, since the twelve towns and townships in Shaktreng County can plant three times in a year – in spring, summer, and winter – the time to prepare for spring planting has arrived. This year, throughout the county an area of 15,000 mu will be planted. Crops planted will include barley, rapeseed, and potatoes. In the fields, both chemical and natural fertilizers are used. 20 March 2015 On the 18th of March, three newly-built kindergarten in Yushu Prefecture's Nangchen County opened their doors. The county's nine-year history of lacking a kindergarten had come to an end. In 2006 there was a kindergarten in the county town, but the students' dormitory collapsed and the school closed its doors. After that, there were no educational opportunities for preschool-aged children for several years, and so there was nothing for children to do except stay at home and play. During several years, through government subsidized construction, three kindergarten have been built and are now in use. The 18th of March was the day on which the kindergartens finally came into use. This reporter went to the kindergarten in the eastern part of the county town, and saw with his own eyes a range of equipment with various functions and a beautiful school environment. Inside the classrooms, the teacher was leading the children to study children's songs and dances. The children, whose faces were filled with smiles, were joyfully studying. According to our information, the China Poverty Alleviation Fund gave more than five million RMB to help with the construction of the kindergarten in the east of the county town. With that amount, construction began on the 28th of May in 2012. Construction was completed at the end of August in 2013. 20 March 2015 Soon, the Kalachakra Mandala of Semjyi Nyida County (Dechen Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture), built at a cost of 500 million RMB, will be inaugurated. The night before the ceremony, the Guinness Book of Records registrar, Lisa, carried out an inspection over the course of three hours, announcing that the Kalachakra Mandala was officially the biggest in the world, and registered it as such. The mandala is found on the eighth floor of Dechen Prefecture's Central Shambala Kalachakra Mandala building. It is eight meters high and 14 meters in diameter at the base. 20 March 2015 According to information provided by Tibet University's Modern Education Technology Centre on the 18th, China's professional Tibetan-Chinese translation software will soon be released, and at that time, this service will be provided to the public for free. This software will be called 'Sunshine Tibetan-Chinese Machine Translation'. More than 20 people from Tibet University worked in the new technology unit for over three years with 2 million RMB in funding to overcome challenges and successfully achieve their goal. 23 March 2015 On the 21st of March – the second day of the second month in the lunar calendar – Baima Tibetans began their annual mountain circumambulation festival. This activity will continue until the 20th of April. During this time, women from the eighteen Baima Tibetan clans will don beautiful traditional clothes, while men wear masks, and both dance around a bonfire, offering alcohol, and so on. 16 March 2015 From CCTV. On the 15th, a meeting was held in Beijing for the completion of the Gansu courts' series of Tibetan-Chinese bilingual publications for the study of law. The meeting was attended by the Chinese High Court's leader, Zhou Qiang, the vice-chairman of the CPPCC and director of the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, Wang Zhengwei. The book series contains more than ten volumes on the constitution, criminal code, and so on. The Gansu Province High People's Court worked with schools within the province and experts with a high level of expertise in legal matters and adeptness in both Chinese and Tibetan, and, after working together for over a year to compile the materials, these books were published by the Minority Nationalities Publishing House. 6th March 2015 Recently, according to information obtained by the reporter from the Karmdzi civil administration bureau, the national civil administration department issued dispatch No.70 for 2015, granting permission for Darmdo to become a city. According to the dispatch, from the State Council's granting of permission, the region formerly administered under Darmdo County will not only be transferred to Darmdo city, but will also be included within Karmdzi Prefecture. This will be the first county-level city in Sichuan's Tibetan areas. |
