20 March 2015
On the 18th of March, three newly-built kindergarten in Yushu Prefecture's Nangchen County opened their doors. The county's nine-year history of lacking a kindergarten had come to an end. In 2006 there was a kindergarten in the county town, but the students' dormitory collapsed and the school closed its doors. After that, there were no educational opportunities for preschool-aged children for several years, and so there was nothing for children to do except stay at home and play. During several years, through government subsidized construction, three kindergarten have been built and are now in use.
The 18th of March was the day on which the kindergartens finally came into use. This reporter went to the kindergarten in the eastern part of the county town, and saw with his own eyes a range of equipment with various functions and a beautiful school environment. Inside the classrooms, the teacher was leading the children to study children's songs and dances. The children, whose faces were filled with smiles, were joyfully studying.
According to our information, the China Poverty Alleviation Fund gave more than five million RMB to help with the construction of the kindergarten in the east of the county town. With that amount, construction began on the 28th of May in 2012. Construction was completed at the end of August in 2013. At present, the kindergarten employs 13 staff and has 135 students.
