In recent years, after Malho Prefecture put much effort into protecting its environment, a pleasant atmosphere has arisen for the protection of both the natural environment and cultural heritage. Among the five northwest provinces and regions, Malho Prefecture has abundant cultural resources, and it is a place where an increasing number of national and provincial level artisans and tradition-bearers are found.
At the end of 2013, Rebgong had: 114 intangible cultural heritage teams at various levels, four nationally recognized artisans, 43 provincial level and traditional artisans, 102 tradition-bearers of various levels, 4,465 cultural industry households, 80 model tradition-bearing households, 19 model tradition-bearing villages, 3 model tradition-bearing offices, and 6 integrated centers for tradition-maintenance training. Rebgong received an annual income of 372,490,000RMB from cultural industries.
